Oil Pan

While the OEM truck pan will fit into a Gbody, the sump may sit way to low and ground clearance may not be acceptable for some. For this reason, I chose to use the Fbody oil pain for my conversion.  Most will recommend one of the Holley pans that are available. I can’t argue with that.  If I did this swap into a Gbody again, I would likely use a Holley 302-1 or 302-2.

Because of the motor mounts and forward positioning I used, I had to notch the cross-member.  It’s not structural, so cutting into it does not compromise the rigidity of the frame.  Not all who have used the Fbody pan have had to notch the cross-member.

I chose LSX Innovations adjustable 1″ setback motor mount plates.  I wanted to set the motor forward one notch as to have better firewall clearance. This was simply done by mounting the OEM Gbody clam shells to the plate as noted by the plate installation instructions.
